DHENKANAL: Police are on the lookout for Karunakar Dalei, a tuition teacher, for attacking and seriously injuring his wife Ratna Manjari Dalei here on January 19. Ratna is in a coma in SUM Hospital at Bhubaneswar.
The incident came to light two days later after the victim’s mother, Minati Sahoo, filed an FIR at Town police station. IIC of Town police station, A Dalua, said Karunakar (38) mercilessly assaulted his wife with a stick and also abused her using filthy language in their house at PHD Colony Sahi on the morning of the fateful day.
A seriously injured Ratna was admitted to SUM Hospital in a critical condition. Dalei is absconding after the incident. The IIC said they recorded the statements of Ratna in the hospital on Sunday and seized materials used in assaulting the victim. Efforts are on to nab the accused at the earliest, he added.
