This afternoon's meeting at Wetherby will go ahead as scheduled after the track passed an 11am inspection.

Temperatures dipped to as low as minus 2.5C overnight in West Yorkshire, prompting officials to announce a precautionary inspection for 9.30am.

That initial check proved inconclusive, but clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson was able to give the fixture the green light after looking again an hour and a half later.

He said: "We're on, which is great.

"Things have improved quite a bit since 9.30am. The sun is out and the forecast is in our favour.

"We've had a good look round and we feel we could race on it now, so we're good to go."
The first of six races is due off at 1.30pm.

Elsewhere, this afternoon's meeting at Leicester also goes ahead after three morning inspections.

Checks at 8am and 10:30am proved inconclusive with temperatures having dropped to -2C overnight, however the go ahead for racing was finally given after a third inspection at noon.

The going on the hurdles course is reported to be soft, while the chase course is good, soft on the flat course crossings.
