Grateful Dead rises again at Sundance

Former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann played a private 45-minute acoustic set at Sundance to celebrate “Long Strange Trip,” a Martin Scorsese-executive-produced documentary on the legendary band.

Eric Eisner produced the doc directed by Amir Bar-Lev, which Amazon Studios acquired before the fest began.

VIPs in the crowd included Kevin Bacon, Chloë Sevigny, Laura Dern and Jerry Garcia’s daughter Trixie.

Blues Traveler frontman John Popper joined in for “West LA Fadeaway,” and Woody Harrelson performed Elvis Presley’s “Heartbreak Hotel” and Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away.”

A spy said, “He sang and played drums … The crowd went insane.”
