Japan flash manufacturing PMI rises to 52.8 in January

TOKYO -- The Nikkei Flash Japan Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index, or PMI, rose to 52.8 in January from 52.4 in December. This shows the greatest improvement in manufacturing conditions since March 2014.

A reading above 50 signals an improvement, while one below 50 points to a contraction in activity.
