Both Congress & SP candidates file papers from Agra North

AGRA: Both DC Goyal from Congress and Atul Garg from SP filed their nomination papers from Agra North constituency stating they have been given a go-ahead by senior leaders.
DC Goyal said, “Congress high command has directed me to file nomination.”
Garg expressed surprise over Goyal's decision and said, "Congress has been given three seats and Agra North is not one of them.
I doubt whether he (Goyal) has filed his nomination on Congress ticket."
With just a day left for the closure of filing of nominations for the assembly polls, 40 candidates filed their papers here on Monday. Of the 40, one each belonged to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and two each from Congress and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). Five candidates from Samajwadi Party along with 10 from smaller parties and 20 independent candidates also filed their nominations.
As many as 72 candidates have filed their nominations for the nine assembly seats in the district so far.
Some of the major candidates include BSP’s Agra North candidate Gyanendra Gautam, SP’s Agra Cantonment candidate Mamta Taplu, Etmadpur candidate Rajabeti Baghel, Fatehabad candidate Dr Rajendra Singh, BJP’s Bah candidate Pakshalika Singh, Congress’s Agra Rural candidate Upendra Singh and Agra South candidate Nazir Ahmed. RLD’s Narayan Suman and Brajesh Chahar filed their papers to contest elections from Agra rural and Fatehpur Sikri seat respectively.
