Solid week for soybean, corn export inspections

The USDA reports soybean and corn export inspections were above what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2016/17 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 276,205 tons, down 109,270 from the week ending January 12th, but up 87,204 from the week ending January 21st, 2016. For the 2016/17 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 16,463,340 tons, compared to 13,079,470 in 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 963,897 tons, 61,369 higher than the previous week and 364,132 above this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 19,806,071 tons, compared to 11,236,298 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,290,777 tons, 129,291 less than the prior week, but 92,546 more than last year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 37,151,702 tons, compared to 31,777,316 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 145,529 tons. That’s a decrease of 28,847 tons on the week and 9,727 on the year. 2016/17 U.S. sorghum inspections are 2,300,140 tons, compared to 4,246,067 in 2015/16.
