Arsene Wenger described Alexis Sanchez as "too cool" after the forward scored a 98th-minute Panenka penalty to earn Arsenal a dramatic 2-1 victory over Burnley on Super Sunday.

Sanchez showed no signs of nerves as he netted with his cheeky effort just five minutes after Andre Gray had scored from the spot to cancel out Shkodran Mustafi's opener.

Arsenal had been reduced to 10 men shortly after Mustafi headed them in front with Granit Xhaka shown a straight red card by referee Jonathan Moss for a lunge on Steven Defour.

When asked about the Chile international's goal, a smiling Wenger said: "He was too cool.

"He has missed penalties for us, he was in fact, not the first penalty taker today - it was [Olivier] Giroud.

"But he was second. But as long as he scores, you know, we just have to accept and say 'well done.'"

The victory over Burnley ensured Arsenal moved above north London rivals Tottenham into second and kept the Gunners eight points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea.
