Thousands of students who pass the National Senior Certificate examinations cannot gain access to Science and Commerce related degrees because they do not meet the entrance requirements of universities. Perhaps your child was one of them? At UKZN Extended Learning we can assist. With a lot of commitment and hard work, your child can bridge the gap that converts Mathematical Literacy to Mathematics, or even upgrade their Physics or Math mark through UKZN Extended Learning.

The Mathematical Literacy Upgrade

course is intended to upgrade a student’s level of Mathematical skills and understanding, providing possible access to a Bachelor’s degree at UKZN, where Grade 12 Mathematics (Pure Math) is an entrance requirement, provided that the applicant meets the other qualifying criteria of the University.

With such a high percentage of Grade 12 learners not meeting the Mathematics entrance requirements for study at a university, the Foundation Math

course is designed to give your child a second chance. It is put together as an intense two week (80 hour) course that allows students who pass with 60%, access to study a degree at UKZN where Mathematics is a prerequisite, provided that the applicant meets the other qualifying criteria of the University.

UKZN Extended Learning is now also offering Foundation Maths Online

as a 7 week online course.

The Foundation Physics

programme aims to enhance the competencies of students in Physics to the level of that required for entry into science-related degrees at UKZN. Students who otherwise may not have had the opportunity to study science-related fields will have the chance to do so after successfully completing this course, provided that the applicant meets the other qualifying criteria of the University.

Both Foundation Math and Physics courses commence on the 16th January 2017 and Mathematical Literacy Upgrade commences on the 13th February 2017. Registration is now open. For further information, contact us on 031 2601234 or visit our website at ukznextendedlearning.com to register online.
