The Hindu and Roots Collegium hosted Acubiz 2016-17, a two-day mega event for the fourth consecutive year. Different events were judged by experts in the respective fields. The events were declared open by the chairman B P Padala Roots Collegium with the traditional lighting of the lamp on day 1, January 9, 2017 and concluded on January 10, 2017.
The Principal, College of Commerce and Management, Osmania University, Vedula Sekhar was the chief guest on the inaugural day and motivated the students to do their best in the events. Viveck Verma – Coach, Investor, Philanthropist and Mentor currently with Anaphyxi People Consult Pvt. Ltd., 50k Ventures, Head Angels was the chief guest at the valedictory function and gave away the prizes.
The events were judged in Senior and Junior categories. Various colleges from around the city participated. Apart from students of Roots Collegium, St. Mary’s Junior College, Basheerbagh, Loyola Academy, ICSI, Sri Nidhi Institute, Stanley Degree College, Aurora College, Malla Reddy Engineering College, Little Flower Junior College, Obul Reddy Public School, Shri Chaitanya, Holy Mary Business School and many more educational Institutions participated to showcase their students talents and vied with one another for the prizes.
The judges on day 1 were Fiaz Ahmed, Regional manager. ICICI Securities Ltd, for mock stock exchange, Pavana Kumar CEO Open Face, and Priyadarshini, Co-director. For Short Films the judges were Hemalatha Iyer - Professional Classical Singer, and for singing the judge was Mayuri - doctor and singer. Day 2 saw the events being judged by Shravanthi-Dance, Punaja Nagarjuna groups, and Vijay Sagar for Ad films and Poster Presentations and for finance paper presentation.
