Bangladesh cricketer Arafat Sunny was arrested today for allegedly sending indecent pictures to a female friend on Facebook messenger.

Sunny was arrested after a case was filed with the Mohammadpur Police Station under the Information and Communication Technology Act.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of the Mohammadpur Police Station, Jamaluddin Mir said: "Sunny was arrested from Amin Bazar around 9 am on Sunday. The cricketer's friend filed the case with the police station last week."

"She complained that Sunny had been sending her indecent pictures on Facebook messenger for some time. He has been arrested on the basis of these allegations," he added. (ICC clears bowling action of Bangladesh's Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny)

Sub-inspector Yahiya, the investigation officer of the case, said: "Sunny will be sent to the court within a short period of time." (ICC World T20: Taskin Ahmed, Arafat Sunny reported for suspect action)

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to comment on the issue.

When contacted, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury told India Today's Dhaka correspondent that they were looking into the matter.

The board's media committee chief, Jalal Yunus, said: "we are still trying to find out the details."
