Mercy Street
PBS, 8 ET/PT (times may vary)

Catherine of Aragon, played by Paola Bontempi, in PBS's 'Secrets of the Six Wives.'

Anyone who ever longed for PBS to do an original, scripted, drama set and filmed in America had to be happy to see Mercy Street, which follows the struggles of the staff and patients at an Alexandria hospital during the Civil War. Unfortunately, in its first season, Street was often more notable for ambition than achievement. But breaking new ground is never easy, and Street has taken on a particularly difficult task. So here’s hoping the second season’s take goes better.

Hunted
CBS, 10 ET/7 PT (after football)

As you may have noticed, it’s been awhile since the reality genre has produced a new hit that isn’t a precise copy or outright revival of an old one. So if nothing else, this new series from CBS does sound — unusual. In this game show version of a manhunt, players hide out in the  Southeast, attempting to avoid detection by a team of investigators who are allowed to search their homes and scour their cellphone and Internet histories to find them. Sounds fun or creepy, and maybe both.

Secrets of the Six Wives
PBS, 10 ET/PT (times may vary)

Historian Lucy Worsley reexamines the story of Henry VIII’s marriages from the point of view of his six wives. First up, as history dictates, is Catherine of Aragon.
