AHMEDABAD: A
local court on Saturday sentenced two Udaipur-based persons to ten years jail and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh in connection with a case of
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The duo were held with 6532 kg of opium.
The court also stated in the order that if the duo —identified as
Mohmmad Firoz Chhipa alias Babban and
Mohammad Mohsin Chhipa —fail to deposit the fine then their imprisonment will be increased to two more years.
The duo were held by the special operation group (SOG) of detection of crime branch (DCB) on July 24 in the year 2014 from Kalupur railway station and seized the narcotics substances worth Rs 1.30 lakh from their possession.
