Pankaj Bhujbal surrenders

January 22, 2017 12:00 am | Updated 03:56 am IST - Mumbai:

Pankaj Bhujbal, the son of former Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, surrendered on Saturday before a court in connection with the money laundering cases being probed by the Enforcement Directorate. He was released on bail. Chhagan Bhujbal and his nephew Sameer were arrested by the ED in connection with these cases last year, and are presently in judicial custody. “Pankaj surrendered before the court and was released on a (bail) bond with surety of Rs. 2 lakh,” his lawyer Shalabh Saxena said.

Earlier, Pankaj had moved the HC seeking anticipatory bail, but later withdrew it after giving assurance that he will surrender before the special Prevention of Money Laundering Act court in connection to the cases.

The PMLA court released Pankaj on a bond as the ED is yet to arrest him as part of the ongoing investigation, his lawyer said. — PTI
