Union Minister Ananth Kumar on Saturday threw his weight behind former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, saying that the BJP would unseat the “corrupt” Congress from power in the next election under his leadership.

He was speaking after the inauguration of the meeting of the state executive of the party here. He said the party would launch a campaign throughout the state, asking the government to give accounts of the money spent from drought relief fund of Rs 1,852 crore released by the Centre last year and creating an awareness among the people about the government’s failures.
The then UPA government had released a paltry compensation of Rs 269 crore in 2007-08 against the demand for Rs 3,941 crore putforth by the then BJP government in the state.

BJP national general secretary incharge of Karnataka P Muralidhar Rao too announced that the party would launch an agitation against the failure of the state government and non-release of drought relief funds given by the Centre. Yeddyurappa said he would impress upon the Centre to release a support price of Rs 6,500 per quintal of tur.
