COIMBATORE: US citizen John, who was among the pro- jallikattu protesters on VOC park ground in Coimbatore on Saturday, condemned PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) for their “anti-people policies.”
“PETA was started in the United States of America, but it has been indulging in a lot of anti-people policies and activities. They need to respect the traditions of the region.
The government should note the sentiment of the people and hold this traditional sport,” he said.
John, a journalist, added that PETA was creating similar issues in various countries.
John, a resident of California, came to India on January 2, 2016. He changed his travel plans to take part in the protest.
Moved by his gesture, the crowd also supported him and cheered. He was in praise of the peaceful protest by youngsters.
He was seen cleaning the VOC park ground and also helping the volunteers.
