Sen. Bernie Sanders received a hero’s welcome Friday as he prepared to board an airplane flight out of Washington.

The Vermont Independent was swarmed by supporters at Reagan Reagan National Airport, hours after Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States, and as the celebration continued to play out on a nearby television.

Mr. Sanders lost the Democratic primary race to Hillary Clinton.

The race, though, solidified his cult-like status among Democrats and liberal grassroots activist.
