Cops foil bid to install chair in Maharaja College principal’s room

The police on Friday quashed an attempt by workers of the KSU and BJP to install a symbolic chair in the principal’s room at Maharaja’s College here.

KOCHI: The police on Friday quashed an attempt by workers of the KSU and BJP to install a symbolic chair in the principal’s room at Maharaja’s College here.
The incident occurred during a protest march against the burning of the principal’s chair  by SFI activists on Thursday.
The situation turned violent when the police used force to prevent the protesters from entering the college premises with the chair.

Meanwhile, the vice-principal filed a complaint with the police against the SFI workers who set the principal’s chair on fire, with the support of a section of teachers. The police said CCTV footage would be examined to identify the students involved in the incident. Deploring the agitation staged by SFI students, Hibi Eden MLA termed it a barbaric act.
