BENGALURU: Following a court order on Friday, BBMP officials along with White House Resident Welfare Association members will conduct a joint survey of the property to ascertain the extent of encroachment of a storm water drain on Tuesday. The BBMP chief engineer will issue a notice in this regard.

A day after residents of the apartment, situated in RT Nager, protested against BBMP’s move to demolish a portion of the apartment’s wall, the resident association approached the court seeking a stay against the demolition drive. The court  refused to grant a stay. Instead, it directed both the parties to hold a joint survey.

BBMP chief engineer (Storm Water Drains) Siddegowda said they had already conducted a survey twice. “Both the times it is found that 9.5 guntas of land had been encroached upon. The Joint Director of Land Records will send surveyors to conduct the survey. BBMP officials and representatives of resident welfare association will be present in the joint survey,” he said.

The official added that he would issue a notice to the association stating the joint survey would be conducted on Monday or Tuesday.
Association members had staged a protest by closing the gate of the apartment on Wednesday when BBMP authorities began a demolition drive to clear encroachments.
