MP sore over delay in MPLADS works

January 21, 2017 12:00 am | Updated 04:24 am IST - KAKINADA:

Expressing dissatisfaction over the inordinate delay in executing the projects sanctioned under the MPLADS (Member of Parliament’s Local Area Development Scheme), Kakinada MP Thota Narasimham on Friday highlighted the need for completing the works at the earliest.

Reviewing the spending on the MPLADS at a meeting with the officials of various departments here, Mr. Narasimham said that a sum of Rs. 15 crore had been sanctioned under the head to his parliamentary constituency and works worth only Rs. 6.11 crore had been completed so far. Observing that most of the pending works were with the Panchayat Raj and Municipal Administration Departments, he wanted the officials to focus more on the long-pending projects and accord top priority to completing the works. He highlighted the need for maintaining transparency in the spending of the funds. Collector H. Arun Kumar was present.
