Principal Secretary (Food and Civil Supplies) Anand Bardhan today inaugurated IOCL’s Saksham 2017, an oil and gas conservation initiative.
Bardhan urged citizens to utilise the available petroleum reserve intelligently. He suggested them to avoid the wastage of petroleum products by implying fuel saving tips, which he said would benefit the national exchequer by cutting the import prices.
Earlier, Nagendra Singh, state-level coordinator, Oil Industry, Uttarakhand and senior divisional retail sales manager, IOL, briefed on the petroleum products scenario in India.
He said about 80 per cent of fuel demand of India was met through the import of petroleum crude which plays a major burden in the erosion of our foreign currency. Dr Anjan Ray, Director, Indian Institute of Petroleum Dehradun requested children to inspire their parents to stop the wastage of petroleum products for their better future.
Schoolchildren, oil industry officials and scientists were present on the occasion.
