From unusual and unique forms to vibrant colour palettes, nature has a lot to offer if one has an eye for intrinsic things. Several things found in and around our surroundings have the power to frame our perceptions and ideas. Take for instance, mythology and the classic legends, that have inspired fashion, jewellery, and even our interiors.

A cut above the rest: Nature and jewellery are two forces that can together create incredible pieces of wearable art. For designers and artists, the biggest thing to be inspired from is the art of sustainability. Jewellery especially has been inspired by nature since time immemorial. From designs and forms to the precious material used, some of the most rare elements have often been used to create the most extraordinary pieces. Depending on face cuts and body types, distinct styles and silhouettes suit different people. It is therefore important to accentuate features which deserve to be enhanced. While trends in costume jewellery and fashion are related, they do not always change together. The jewellery trend cycle is longer and different from fashion. This season, we will see a lot of organic, fluid and nature-inspired themes fused with fashion. With nature being a timeless theme, these are some of the key trends we'll witness this time around.

Reviving heritage: Heritage themes are being used to reinvent looks. A fusion of heritage and modern look is going to dominate the market. Unusual combinations such as diamonds with polkis, traditional craftsmanship like partaj and enamelling are already being used in a contemporary form.

Combining technique and technology: Figurative design is in vogue. The Krsna collection at Zoya, for example, is an amalgamation of the latest trends in heritage jewels and showcases the story of Lord Krishna. Techniques of French enamelling like champleve and painting enamel which came to India during the Mughal period have been used in this collection. The series is a unique combination of both technique and technology.

Playing with western classics: In fashionable diamond jewellery, a long string of diamonds with elements and charms will transform western fashion.

Asymmetric makeover: Asymmetric earrings, unusual finger rings and contemporary bracelets will become a must-have for every woman who likes to keep it stylish.
