BOULDER, Colo. -- (Business Wire)
A major wireless carrier has selected Zayo for a dark fiber solution to
densify its network in Colorado Springs and expand capacity along the
Front Range. The solution will leverage Zayo’s existing network between
the Denver Metro area and Colorado Springs and will add 124 new route
miles in Colorado Springs for the dark fiber-to-the-tower (FTT)
solution. The total value of the 20-year contract exceeds $16 million.
Zayo’s solution will enable the carrier to implement a centralized radio
access network (C-RAN) architecture for efficient network densification.
Long haul dark fiber will provide diverse connectivity between Colorado
Springs and the Denver metro area. As demand for mobile bandwidth
continues to increase, especially in high-growth areas like the Colorado
Front Range, wireless carriers must continue to invest in infrastructure
to improve capacity and quality.
Zayo expects to fully leverage the buildout for follow-on tenants in
Colorado Springs, a growing market with a diverse base of business. The
region is home to five military bases, major aerospace and defense
companies, technology and cybersecurity companies, healthcare facilities
and professional services.
“Our wireless customers continue to invest in high-capacity
communications infrastructure to meet the accelerating demand for mobile
bandwidth,” said Kay Henze, senior vice president, Dark Fiber, Rocky
Mountain Region. “This network expansion will provide a unique network
footprint capable of serving the bandwidth needs of a variety of
verticals in Colorado Springs, one of the state’s largest and fastest
growing markets.”
