Anupam Kher has been one of the most outspoken Bollywood personalities who has voiced his opinions on everything ranging from the political scenarios to topics of social importance. The supremely talented actor-politician, who has also led various marches, addressed the issue of Kashmiri Pandits, their genocide and exile from their land. In a video brought out by Ashoke Pandit Productions, titled Phailega Humara Maun, the actor addresses the pain and suffering of the people divided by the valley and its aftermath. Jammu and Kashmir Assembly passes resolution for return of Kashmiri Pandits

The video was released on YouTube on the 27th anniversary of the Kashmiri Pandits’ migration from the Valley, marked on January 19, 2017. The heart-wrenching video shows Anupam Kher mouthing the lines of Dr Shashi Shekhar Toshkhani, a renowned Kashmiri poet, with the intention of making people aware that Kashmiri Pandits still exist and their voices need to be heard. The actor tweeted the video to mark the black day of exodus when the Kashmiri Pandits were forced to flee their homeland due to violence.

The tweet by the actor read, “27yrs on we Kashmiri Pandits are still refugees in our own country. A protest poem about their Silent Scream. Do share.” Anupam Kher, a Kashmiri Brahmin himself, has been voicing his opinions against the wrongdoings and warned in the poem that the voices of Kashmiri Pandits would not be silent!

Ashoke Pandit Productions also released a powerful poem by actor Manoj Bajpayee on this topic. which speaks about the violence that the Kashmiri Pandits were subjected to. Manoj Bajpayee’s poem, titled Apne Hi Desh Ke Joote again talks the painful journey of the Pandits who were removed from their land in the most traumatising way possible. This powerful poem is penned by Maharaj Krishan Santoshi and will give you all the chills.

Noted Indian playback singer, Neerja Pandit has also rendered a song for the same cause. “Chhod Aaye Hain” is a melodious song written by Poet, Waali Aasi with music composed by Tauseef Akhtar.

On January 19, 1990, lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits were forced to flee from Kashmir Valley after to outbreak of militancy. Various Kashmiri Pandit organisations observed holocaust day on this date to commemorate their exodus from their native places in the Valley. On January 19, 2017, twenty-seven years after this horrific aftermath, the state legislative assembly passes a resolution for the return of migrants to Kashmir, including the Kashmiri Pandits.
