Over 1,600 vehicles, 180 buses tobe on election duty in Bareilly district

BAREILLY: The regional transport office (RTO) will be arranging nearly 1,600 vehicles and 180 roadways buses for election duties for Bareilly district.
RTO officials said they would be sending the vehicles on February 11, while the buses would be sent a week prior (by February 8) to the poll day — February15.
According officials, the RTO has commenced the process for impounding the required number of vehicles, including both light and heavy motor vehicles such as vans, wagons, jeeps, Innova, mini-buses, trucks and others.

Regional transport officer (enforcement) M L Chaurasiya told TOI, “The vehicles will be used to ferry election staff, and booth-level officials with EVMs. There will be around 800 big and 800 small vehicles, which will include police vehicles as well. The impounding is under process and the vehicles would remain on poll duties for five days, February 11 to 15.”
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has selected around 180 roadways buses for election duties from February 8 to March 15.
UPSRTC regional manager Prabhakar Mishra told TOI, “Of the total 180 selected buses, 60 are from Bareilly depot, 57 from Rohilkhand, 35 from Badaun and the remaining 28 are from Pilibhit.”
According to UPSRTC officials, the selected buses are currently plying on long routes.
