As many as 12 unauthorised layouts spread over 80 acres of Revenue Survey land in the extension areas of Ballari city were cleared during a drive launched by the Ballari Urban Development Authority (BUDA).

Unauthorised layouts that had come up in and around Guggarahatti, Belagal Road and Talur Road localities were cleared by way of removal of border stones, drains, electrical poles with the help of earth movers since Wednesday.

Ravishankar, Assistant Executive Engineer, BUDA, Ramesh, Town Planning member of BUDA, supervised the drive. “We have identified 35 unauthorised layouts in different parts of the city and 12 layouts have been cleared. The drive would continue. We have asked the owners to approach BUDA with an application seeking approval before developing the layouts afresh,” Mr. Ravishankar told The Hindu .
