Ferozepur: On a complaint by SDM Harjit Singh, the Returning Officer for Ferozepur (Urban), the police on Thursday registered an FIR against AAP leaders and workers under Section 283 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) of the IPC for organising an election rally in Udham Singh Chowk without permission and obstructing traffic.

Ferozepur: On a complaint by SDM Harjit Singh, the Returning Officer for Ferozepur (Urban), the police on Thursday registered an FIR against AAP leaders and workers under Section 283 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) of the IPC for organising an election rally in Udham Singh Chowk without permission and obstructing traffic. The rally was addressed by AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal in support of party candidate Narinder Sandha. SDM’s father is TMC pick for Muktsar 

Muktsar: Rajinder Singh Raja, whose daughter is Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sardulgarh, and son is posted as Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Ferozepur, is contesting the elections from Muktsar as the Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate. Raja, who worked as upper division clerk, has submitted his resignation to the PSPCL. In the affidavit filed along with his nomination, Raja (54) has declared that he has just Rs 25,000 cash. His wife has Rs 15,000 cash in hand. The couple doesn’t own any other movable or immovable property. Raja said, “I had contested the Assembly elections from Malout in 1997 as BSP candidate and got about 9,600 votes.” Archit Watts

AAP nat’l executive member joins Cong 

Hoshiarpur: In a jolt to AAP in Hoshiarpur, Navin Jairath, member of the party’s national executive, on Thursday joined hands with the Congress. Jairath was one of the founder members of AAP in Hoshiarpur. He had been associated with Kejriwal at the time of Anna Hazare’s agitation. He was annoyed with the party after the Hoshiarpur ticket was given to Paramjit Sachdeva. Former vice-presidents of the Municipal Council Kharaiti Lal Katna and Tarlok Singh Airman; municipal councillor Monika Katna; former vice-president of SAD district unit Surjit Kumar; and former councillor Balwinder Kaur; also joined the Congress. Former MLA Sahungra in AAP fold

Garhshankar: Former local MLA Shingara Ram Sahungra joined the Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of party’s senior leader Sanjay Singh in Chandigarh on Thursday. Sahungra had been elected MLA on the BSP ticket from Garhshankar in 1992 and 1997. He had joined the Congress in 2011. He had been appointed Doaba zone incharge of the party’s SC wing. AAP candidates Jai Kishan Rodi and Charanjit Singh Channi accompanied him to Chandigarh. Sahungra told The Tribune that he had been motivated by NRIs to join AAP. OC
