CM Pinarayi Vijayan to open Infopark Phase II

First IT building Jyothirgamaya' boasts an area of four lakh sq feet.

KOCHI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the first IT building of the second phase of the Infopark campus here on Sunday. The building named ‘Jyothirgamaya’ spread across an area of four lakh square feet over nine floors has state of the art facilities and a vast parking area of 1.5 lakh square feet. Announcing this at a press conference here on Thursday, Infopark CEO Hrishikesh Nair said that the Rs 2,500-crore phase II project is spread across 160 acres of land in Puthencruz, Kunnathunadu villages. Initially, 125 acres will be developed of which 102 acres have SEZ status.

“More than 85 per cent of the eco-friendly building, has already been allocated to various companies. Phase II, when fully developed by 2020, aims at creating 8 million sq ft of work space for IT/ITeS companies, and is expected to generate about 80,000 jobs,” said Mr. Nair. IT major Cognizant has set up an IT campus on 15 acres while Muthoot is developing its space in 9.37 acres. Muthoot is also operating a school. Other IT and infrastructure companies like Kosamattam group, TransAsia, Claysys Infrastructure, Media Systems, Padiyath Innovation World, PI Data Centres and Caspian Techparks have also been allocated land.

“The second phase is being developed as an independent township project, including facilities like hotels, shopping malls, international school, multiplexes and convention centres. The IT campus will have proper rail, road and air connectivity to facilitate hassle free travel,” added the Infopark CEO. The press conference was also attended by Infopark marketing manager Arun Rajeevan, senior business development manager Sreejith Chandran and senior technical advisor Roshny Mary Thomas.
