Elon Musk + Donald Trump = BFFs?

When Tesla Motors Inc TSLA CEO Elon Musk met with President-elect Donald Trump, all he had to do was stay clear of the climate change debate and remind the president-elect that unlike his technology CEO peers he's investing billions of dollars in manufacturing capacity in the U.S. and will create thousands of new jobs.

Trump, whose presidential campaign was built around the notion of creating American jobs, struck a cordial relationship with Musk after their first meeting.

Even though Musk said during the campaign season that Trump isn't "the right" person to lead the country, he now has a direct line of contact with the president-elect and will even serve as a strategic adviser to the White House.

And this relationship is extremely valuable for Tesla's shareholders, according to Morgan Stanley's Adam Jonas.

"While we cannot explicitly apply a monetary value to this relationship, we believe this level of coordination with the new administration could actually evolve into greater strategic value than with the prior administration," Bloomberg quoted the analyst as saying as part of his upgrade of Tesla's stock.

Tesla's stock initially fell after Trump won the presidential race as Tesla's clean energy thinking contrasts with Trump's oil and gas friendly policies.

However, Trump and Musk likely now see eye to eye in terms of creating new jobs and the unlikely friendship is growing.
