CM Shehbaz has given a go-ahead to extension project of the lab

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif has demoted Director of Drug Testing Laboratory to Officer on Special Duty (OSD) while a fresh batch of staff has been appointed owing to poor performance.

The development has come in eight months after around Rs 200 million were spent to upgrade the lab and it was inaugurated.

Reportedly, drugs were dispatched to LGC Lab in London for testing despite the upgradation and ‘state of the art’ facilities over which the Chief Minister has taken the action. The government bore burden of billions of Rupees in the past eight months for the purpose.

The Chief Minister said that biased reports were compiled by the authorities.

Dr Shafiqur Rehman, a PhD scholar in Chemistry has been appointed as the Director of the lab however, a pharmacist degree is a prerequisite for such appointment.

Meanwhile, CM Shehbaz has given a go-ahead to extension project of the lab.
