GHAZIABAD: Consortium of Societies Ghaziabad (COG), a group of residents and residential societies in Ghaziabad, has started conducting drives for an increased turnover in the upcoming state elections for the last few days.
The awareness gimmicks include putting up posters and banners in residential societies, conducting rallies with school children, candle light marches, residents forming a human chain while marching on the roads, and putting large, colourful air balloons atop residential societies.

“The drives are being conducted as a part of the voter’s awareness programme of the Election Commission and Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). For the first time, banners and posters encouraging residents to cast their votes have been posted in Rajhans Kutumb, a residential society. It will be followed by other societies as well,” said Sharat Jha, a resident of Indirapurama and president of COG.
“We also participated in a rally of school children on January 19. The rally started at Rajhans Kutumb near Kala Patthar Marg and culminated at the CISF camp at CISF road in Indirapuram,” said Arif Khan, General Secretary of COG.
The candle march of residents will be conducted on January 21. It will be followed by a human formation on January 28 and other smaller activities like painting, rangoli making in various other residential societies in Indirapuram.
