Classy Robert Forde was the hero for Moate CS as they advanced to their first Top Oil Leinster Schools SFC 'A' final.

Forde fired the Westmeath side into a three-point lead in the 26th minute when he volleyed a Kieran Kelly cross to the net. And although Good Counsel stayed in touch for the remainder of an evenly-fought contest, and spurned some great chances in the second half, they trailed from then to the final whistle.

Forde also scored the only goal in a hard-fought quarter-final victory over St Aidan's.  Immediately after conceding the goal, Eric Cummins was denied an equaliser with a brave stop by Jordan Nugent, although another free by Jamie Myler left Good Counsel College only trailing by two at the break (1-3 to 0-4).

The Wexford men enjoyed their best spell early in the second half, but were narrowly wide with three efforts as they strove to equalise. Moate hit back but Sam Wall ensured there would be some nervous late moments as he brought Counsel to within two points.
