The State Cabinet on Wednesday cleared the decks for providing Cauvery water to 110 villages, which were newly added to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, by approving Rs. 167.6-crore tender to take up pipe laying work.
A 9.6-km pipeline would be laid from Netkal reservoir to Torekadanahalli balancing reservoir to enable supply of 810 million litres of water a day, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachandra said.
An administrative clearance was also granted for providing drinking water to Anekal under the Cauvery second phase-fourth stage project at a cost of Rs. 68.55 crore. Under this scheme, Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board will supply 30 million litres of water a day to Anekal, including Suryanagar of Karnataka Housing Board, he said.
