MALKANGIRI: The Malkangiri Division of Command Area Development Authority (CADA) No-12 has decided to supply water to 4,700 hectares of agriculture lands during 2016-17.

This was stated by CADA’s  Malkangiri-based Executive Engineer Muktikant Mahapatra. He said that more than 100 hectares of agriculture lands in remote Malavaram PH-8 would get water through field channels. The project is estimated to cost Rs 35 lakh, he added.

Once the project is completed, farmers residing in remote and interior areas would be able to get water for their lands.

More than 2,000-metre long concrete lined field channel has already been constructed, including falls, road crossings and delivery tanks.

Project Director of Berhampur-based CADA Sujata Sahu had inspected the work last week, Mahapatra said.

CADA has been entrusted with the responsibility of equal distribution of water among the farmers and increase the water use efficiency through field channels.

The officials are making all efforts to meet the target of supplying water to 4,700 hectares of lands, CADA sources said.
