DHENKANAL: The BDO of Kankadahada block, Jyotishankar Sahoo, was detained for allegedly rejecting the nomination of a samiti member candidate on Wednesday.
The candidate, Gayatri Padhan, had filed nomination two days back for samiti member post from Dashipur with the required affidavit. However, Sahoo asked her to submit the affidavit again claiming that papers are not duly filled up. Even though Pradhan submitted the affidavit on Wednesday within the deadline, it was not accepted by Sahoo.
Alleging discrimination by the BDO under political pressure, locals detained Sahoo and did not allow him to leave the block office.
They said Sahoo had accepted the nominations of many candidates without the required certificates. The irate locals had locked the block office till filing of this report.
