World gold prices fell today to US$1,140 per ounce, making domestic gold prices dip sharply. On the afternoon of November 27, some gold trademarks were selling at below VND27 million/tael.

Early in the afternoon, domestic gold prices were down by as much as VND1.5 million/tael compared to early morning prices of VND27.10-27.80 million/tael.

At 2.50pm, SJC gold was listed at VND26.9-27.7 million/tael, decreasing by VND1-1.7 million/tael from the morning.

In some gold stores in Ho Chi Minh City, the consistent fall of world and domestic gold prices gave investors a more cautious attitude.

By 4pm on November 27, 280,000 taels had been traded on the trading floor of SBJ Gold Centre at VND25.250-26.594 million/tael. The difference between the lowest and highest price was over VND1.3 million/tael, setting a new record.

In the world market, gold prices fluctuated wildly. In Europe, at 4pm (Hanoi time), the price of gold stood at US$1,145 per ounce, down US$48 per ounce since the opening.

In the US market, due to Thanksgiving Day, transactions on gold trading floors were light with prices hovering between US$1,164 and 1,182 per ounce.
