KOCHI: The city will pay homage to veteran Bollywood actor Om Puri, who passed away last week. A special film screening will be organised by Chavara Cultural centre on January 21 at the Chavara Cultural Centre in Kochi as a tribute to the late actor who had also portrayed some notable characters in Malayalam cinema too.
The movie ‘Ardh Satya’, directed by Govind Nihalani will be screened at 5 pm. Om Puri enacted the character of Anant Welankar, a police officer in the movie. Anant is pointed out as the career defining role of Om Puri. The movie unfolds with the story of Anant, who was forced to join the service by his father.
But soon after joining the force, Anant is caught between his own ideals and the stark reality of widespread corruption in the police force and its strong nexus with politics. The entry for the screening will be free. There will also be a talk on Om Puri lead by film critic Vijayakrishnan.
