Nissan begins production in newly unlocked Myanmar market

Joint operation with local partner assembles Sunny sedan

Nissan has begun producing its Sunny sedan in Myanmar in a joint venture with a local company.

YANGON -- Nissan Motor has begun auto production in Myanmar, where sharp growth is expected in the new-vehicle market thanks to changes in regulations.

The Japanese company said Wednesday it is now assembling the Sunny mainstay sedan at a plant of local partner Tan Chong Motor (Myanmar). The partners plan to build a few hundred units a year for sale within Myanmar.
