SANTA CLARA, Calif. - January 18, 2017 - Aruba, a Hewlett-Packard Enterprise company, today announced that Sundance Institute has deployed an Aruba Gigabit Wi-Fi network to power its enterprise network services at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival to be held January 19-29 in Park City, Utah.

The Sundance Film Festival has introduced global audiences to some of the most groundbreaking films of the past three decades, including Boyhood, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Fruitvale Station, Whiplash, Brooklyn, Twenty Feet from Stardom, Reservoir Dogs and Napoleon Dynamite. The Festival is a program of the non-profit Sundance Institute®. For the 2017 Festival, 118 feature-length films were selected, representing 32 countries and 37 first-time filmmakers.

In 2017, with a daily expected attendance of 20,000, the Institute IT team wanted to ensure fast, reliable Wi-Fi connectivity. The Festival is utilizing Aruba Instant access points - both indoor and outdoor models, the majority of which are deployed on-site at the Festival and can be moved around as density needs dictate. A smaller group of the access points are distributed between the Sundance Institute's three office locations in Park City, Los Angeles, and New York City.

The Institute is also implementing Aruba AirWave network management to provide visibility and troubleshooting capabilities for the IT team and Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager for secure network access, allowing them to apply policies based on the type of device connecting to the network. Most importantly, ClearPass allows the Sundance Institute IT team to configure three separate networks: one for employees, one that serves vendors and yet another for general Festival attendees.
