JAIPUR: Could it really be that one might get
spam from the office of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi? A quick search for the meaning of spam on the internet will reveal this definition: ‘irrelevant or unsolicited messages sent over the Internet, typically to a large number of users, for the purposes of advertising, phishing, spreading malware, etc’. This is precisely what seems to be emanating from no less than the office of the Indian Prime Minister.
An email received in the personal account of this reporter with subject line saying: ‘News From The Week: PM’s address at Vibrant Gujarat Summit, PM at Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s 350th birth anniversary celebrations’ offered a round-up of all the events that Modi addressed over the week.
It also guided one to important quotations from PM Modi.
Can it be that someone at the Prime Minister’s office is actually paid to send out such spam email?
“This government is all about advertisement. It does not care for common people, except to work jumlas on them. I’m not surprised. All this is beneath the dignity of the PM,” said Rajasthan Pradesh Congress chief
Sachin Pilot.
This reporter called the prime minister’s office and was directed to Hiren Joshi, renowned as the ‘social media guru’ of PM Modi. The land line number that was offered to this reporter, however, did not work.
