Wednesday's Pistons News: Drummond should play against Hawks after sitting out Tuesday's practice

Andre Drummond among Detroit Pistons sitting out practice: Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond didn’t practice today, because of a sprained right knee, but he is expected to be in the lineup against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night. Drummond has missed just one game this season and is averaging 14.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. The Pistons are in 10th place, 2.5 games out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. -- Detroit Free Press

Detroit Pistons won't trade just for the 'sake of making change': Sitting in last place in the Central Division, five games below .500 and 2.5 games out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, the Detroit Pistons have a lot of work to do. And with no blockbuster trades in the works, it appears that it'll have to come from the current roster. Coach Stan Van Gundy said, 43 games into the season, the team has no identity at either end of the floor. The team’s defensive numbers are noticeably bad when point guard Reggie Jackson and center Andre Drummond are in the lineup together. -- Detroit Free Press

Judge orders DDA to produce notes from Pistons meeting: The public body that approved a preliminary agreement to bring the Detroit Pistons downtown has been ordered to provide information in court about how that agreement was reached. Wayne County Circuit Judge John Gillis Jr. on Friday ordered the finance committee of the Detroit Downtown Development Authority to appear Jan. 26 and bring notes and audio recordings of its private meeting in November to discuss the Pistons’ move. -- Detroit Free Press

Stans can help Pistons and each other: Stan Van Gundy doesn’t do coincidences. Stanley Johnson doesn’t lack for confidence. But as the Pistons return home tonight to face the surging Hawks at the Palace, they’d both do well to believe in each other a bit more. Because if the Pistons are going to find their bearings in a season gone adrift, they’re going to need all hands on deck. -- The Detroit News

It might be tough for Pistons to deal at deadline: In the last two seasons, the Pistons have been able to improve their roster at the trade deadline, acquiring point guard Reggie Jackson and Tobias Harris with February deals. It might be difficult for general manager Jeff Bower to pull off a similar deal this season, in case the Pistons are looking to improve their roster to make a bold move toward climbing the standings in the East. -- The Detroit News

Pistons injuries mount: Drummond, Baynes, KCP don't practice: The injury list seems to grow every day. Just when the Pistons were looking to get some of their players back, they add a couple more. Centers Andre Drummond (knee sprain) and Aron Baynes (sore knee) didn’t practice on Tuesday, nor did guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (shoulder sprain). -- The Detroit News

Pistons scuffling in playoff pursuit but a major trade is not the plan: The Detroit Pistons are scuffling along, trying to find a way into postseason, and this is the time of year when they recently have made major winter trades to bolster the roster in that effort. It won't be as easy to swing the big deal this time, and probably won't happen at all. -- MLive.com

Pistons' Andre Drummond, Aron Baynes, KCP miss practice: Injuries continue to mount for a teetering Detroit Pistons team, who were without their two top centers on Tuesday. Andre Drummond and Aron Baynes both missed practice with their own knee issues, though Drummond is expected to play Wednesday against Atlanta. -- MLive.com
