Two die as car hits truck on NH 66 in Kerala

Two persons died after the car they were travelling in rammed into a lorry on NH 66 at Mararikulam.

ALAPPUZHA: Two persons died after the car they were travelling in rammed into a lorry on NH 66 at Mararikulam near here on Wednesday. 
 
 The deceased have been identified as Rajan, a native of Ranni in Pathanamthitta and John Bastian a native of Maharashtra. 

Mararikulam police said that Rajan and John were trapped inside the car and the Fire and Rescue service personnel from Cherthala took them out after breaking open the vehicle, soon after the accident. 
 
The lorry overturned in the impact of collision and the traffic was disrupted on the National Highway for an hour, the police said. Further details of the deceased could not be ascertained. "We are waiting for the relatives to reach the station," an officer said. 
 
The bodies were shifted to the morgue at Alappuzha Medical College.
