An eight-year-old Lebanese refugee living in Germany has been put on sale in North Rhine-Westphalia, German media reported Tuesday.
Deutsche Welle broadcaster said in a report that preliminary information shows that the girl offered herself for sale online, without the prior knowledge of her parents.
The ad had requested $45,448 in exchange for the young girl.
The girl moved with her parents and two siblings, a boy and a girl, to the town of Lohne in the district of Herford two years ago.
The family resides at a refugee center.
Deutsche Welle based its report on Westfalen-Blatt newspaper.
It said that the father, 47, and the mother, 40, denied to investigators prior knowledge of the incident.
