The new trailer for DC's long-awaited Injustice 2 looks much more epic than last year's dud Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The latest from Warner Bros and NetherRealm Studios is a dystopian alternate future for the DC Universe, taking place five years after Superman went mad with power, murdered The Joker and established his own world government.
While the Man of Steel was ultimately defeated by Batman and his allies in the original Injustice, he still lives as a captive of the Dark Knight and his allies.
However, a mysterious group known as the The Society are making their own plans for world domination as they infiltrate Batman's inner-circle and move quickly to eliminate heroes in their way.
A mysterious voice hints: "As factions dissolve and form, and lust for power enslaves all, such folly and futility in the grand design. Curious how lines once clearly defined become blurred. Perhaps it is time for them to be redrawn?"
Those haunting words coincide with a freed Superman, Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Batman all squaring off in the field battle - none sure they can trust the others any longer.
Injustice 2 - which boasts a lineup of heroes and villains including Suicide Squad's Harley Quinn and Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd, Blue Beetle, Red Lantern leader Atrocitus and Poison Ivy - will arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16.
