CST booking hall gets LED lights

January 18, 2017 12:00 am | Updated 03:54 am IST - Mumbai:

The ‘star chamber’ booking hall at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) has been fitted with specially-designed low-wattage LED spotlights. “The lighting scheme is designed to highlight the architectural design and the stars of this chamber booking hall, which is part of the world heritage CST building,” said Central Railway chief PRO Narendra Patil.

“Earlier, the lighting was with 50 metal halide lamps of 70-250 watt, which have been replaced with 260 15-watt LED spotlights,” Mr. Patil said. “Besides improving the aesthetic look of the chamber, there is saving of electricity of around 250 kWh unit per day as the lighting load is reduced to 10-12 kw.” — PTI
