Ajay Tamta’s niece joins Congress

In a solace to the Congress, Sunita Tamta Bajwa, niece of Union Minister of State for textiles and Almora MP Ajay Tamta joined the Congress today. She is expected to be pitted against BJP candidate Yashpal Arya in the Bajpur Assembly constituency.

Sunita Tamta Bajwa is married to Jagtar Singh Bajwa, a resident of Bannakhera in Bajpur. She had staked her claim to the BJP ticket from the Bajpur Assembly constituency but her hopes dashed after the party gave the ticket to Yashpal Arya, who joined the BJP yesterday and was promptly given the ticket from Bajpur.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat welcomed Sunita Tamta Bajwa into the party fold. He said the party would be strengthened in the Udham Singh Nagar district with her decision.
