KARACHI: Fauji Meat Limited, a halal meat processing facility, was officially inaugurated near Port Qasim on Monday. A subsidiary of Fauji Foundation Group, FML has acquired the best equipment to achieve a daily production capacity of 100 tons of meat in frozen and chilled categories for worldwide export. The plant started commercial production in April 2016 and is currently serving the GCC region and China and is in the process of obtaining formal approval for export of meat to Russia, MENA region and Central Asia. Addressing the participants of the ceremony, Lt. Gen. Khalid Nawaz, Chairman Fauji Foundation Group said that the FF Group had started off with $0.2 million and now the group’s annual turnover has exceeded $1.5 billion, making it one of the largest business conglomerates in the country with interest in more than 18 industries and having a strategically diversified investment portfolio. The halal food market is estimated to be 16 percent of the total global food industry. Global halal market volume is more than $300 billion.
