CHANDIGARH: Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (CSDE) organised a special lecture on ‘Challenges of Global Project/ Research Management’ at Seminar Hall, University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Panjab University (PU), on Monday.
Dr Ravinder Singh Zandu, Strategy Consultant, Capco, London (UK) delivered the lecture. He talked about the challenges faced by the teams and project research managers while handling global teams.
Team members may be from different cultures, countries and ethnic backgrounds. He shared his thoughts on the usage of words and way of communication when dealing with such diverse teams. Global project delivery across various time zones is a great challenge for any team. He highlighted the examples of delivering the same financial project in different time zones like Australia, Europe at the same time and on the same day.
Various factors to be kept in mind have been discussed during this interaction. An overview of the financial market and penalties for non-delivery on time has also been shared. Negotiation is a very important skill for any of the software professional. Negotiation involves the assessment of companies’ capacity, clients’ requirements and competitors’ offers.
These skills if acquired can help global managers successfully handle the projects. Around 70 research scholars, faculty members and students participated and interacted during the lecture.
Meanwhile, eminent physicist and expert in the field of neutrino physics Prof Manmohan Gupta will deliver the Panjab University (PU) Colloquium Lecture on January 18, 2017, at the Auditorium of Dr S S Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, PU.
