Class Three 100m record in her sights

With last season's Class Three sprint double under her belt, Edwin Allen High stand-out, Kevona Davis, will be going all out to lower the 100 metres record at this year's GraceKennedy-ISSA Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships in March.

Davis continued her good early season form at the JAAA/Puma Development meet at Kirkvine, Manchester last Saturday with a wind-assisted 23.16 seconds in the 200 metres.

"I am working to get the 100m girls Class Three record this year, and to defend my 200m title. I want to remain unbeaten this season," Davis told STAR Sports.

The confident 15-year-old second year Class Three athlete warned her rivals that "once fit," there will be no stopping her. The Girls Champs Class Three 100m record, 11.50, was set by Shauna Helps of Wolmer's Girls in 2012.

"I have already done 11.63 seconds so I know I have work to do but I think I can get the record this year," she pointed out.

The Edwin Allen star said her technique is improving and she is training very hard and expects strong competition Holmwood Technical's Sashekia Steele at the championships.

"My season has started very well, I want to be unbeaten all season," added Davis, native of St Mary who boards at Edwin Allen.

Last year she won the Class Three 100m in 11.63 and clocked 23.91 to capture the 200m.
