AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owasis aghast at Bombay High Court's remark while granting bail in murder of Muslim youth
AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owasi.
HYDERABAD: “Is being a Muslim provocation enough to murder?” AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owasi has questioned in a reaction to the observations made by a Bombay High Court.
While granting bail to three accused in the murder of Mohsin Shaik of Pune, Justice Mridula Bhatkar had said: “The fault of the deceased was only that he belonged to another religion. I consider this factor in favour of the applicants/accused.
More-over, the applicants/accused do not have any criminal record and it appears that in the name of the religion, they were provoked and have committed the murder”. The judgement was delivered on January 12.
Shaik, 28 was murdered in June 2014 allegedly by a group of people who belonged to the Hindu Rashtra Sena.
“So being a Muslim is provocation enough to murder? What happens to equality before law?” Asaduddin remarked.
