The Goddard School Comes to Iowa for the First Time

Play Based Preschool Brings Dynamic Curriculum to Waukee, IA

WAUKEE, IA / ACCESSWIRE / January 16, 2017 / Goddard Systems, Inc. (GSI), the franchisor of The Goddard School® preschool system, proudly announces the opening of its very first school in Iowa. Located at 80 NE Carefree Ln, Waukee, IA, 50263, the new school is owned by husband and wife duo, Liz and Joe Smith, along with their business partners Josh and Stephanie Masters, and Brian and Marcy Klipfel.

Prior to joining The Goddard School, Liz Smith worked primarily as an elementary school teacher in Johnston, IA while also helping her husband operate his multiple businesses in the roofing industry. Once the couple moved to their new home in Waukee, Liz decided to take a break from teaching to be a stay at home mom to her two kids. Liz knew she wanted to get back into teaching, her real passion, so together with the Masters and Klipfels, decided to open their own preschool franchise. All three couples were introduced to The Goddard School through friends living in different areas of the country. Impressed by The Goddard School's proven system and unmatched curriculum, the partners decided the preschool franchise was exactly what the Waukee community needed to service the area's high volume of families.

"As The Goddard School continues to expand in new markets, we are constantly looking for franchisees that demonstrate our values and have a deep-rooted passion for early childhood education," said Jim DiRugeris, Vice President of Franchise Development of Goddard Systems, Inc., "The Smiths, Klipfels and Masters are not only well-versed in The Goddard School's mission to provide families with the best care and preschool education, they also exemplify the traits we look for in potential franchisees. We couldn't ask for better franchisees to open our first Iowa School."

The Goddard School preschool system prides itself on its unique dual-management system, a distinguisher in the early childhood education industry. Franchise owners are onsite at each location and work alongside an educational director, whose focus is to communicate and work with teachers, as well as to implement The Goddard School curriculum. This dual-management system ensures a hands-on, community-focused approach when it comes to early childhood education. With each school opening, The Goddard School also has a local economic impact, creating an average of 20 to 25 jobs within the community.

The Goddard School's play-based approach, called Fun, Learning Experience (or F.L.EX.®), is grounded in research on how children learn best: children experience the deepest, most genuine learning when they are having fun.

At The Goddard School, the focus is on building each child's emotional, academic, social, creative and physical skills to provide a well-rounded experience and ensure each one becomes confident, joyful and fully prepared in school and in life.

"With nearly 30 years of experience in early childhood care and education, The Goddard School's unique dual-management system creates lasting community bonds as franchisees are on-site at the Schools to provide support to the communities they serve," said Joe Schumacher, Chief Executive Officer of Goddard Systems, Inc. "We chose to expand to Iowa due to the state's growing need for The Goddard School experience. Our curriculum is designed to teach and reinforce 21st century skills, including social behaviors such as communication, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration. This philosophy fosters a lifelong love of learning and creates meaningful connections at an early age."

Jobs relating to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) are currently the fastest growing segment of the U.S. economy, and a focus on developing 21st century skills such as creativity and innovation as well as the abilities to collaborate, communicate and think critically, is expected to increase over time. By introducing 21st century skill concepts early on, children develop a strong foundation and a passion for STEAM at the very beginning of their education.
"As parents of young, preschool-aged children, we felt strongly that Iowa needed The Goddard School's quality program that is so highly regarded within the other areas it serves," said on-site owner, Liz Smith. "Being owners of The Goddard School's first Iowa School is such an honor, and we are excited to share our passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children within our community."
